Capacity-building Program
Strengthening the development programs of Adventist institutions will enable them to raise additional support for programs, scholarships, ministry and capital improvement needs. By building the capacity of the fundraising program to work more effectively, our organizations will be healthier and better able to fulfill their missions. The purpose of the Capacity-building Program (CAP) is to:

1.    assist Adventist organizations with an assessment to identify strengths and weaknesses as they relate to fundraising
2.    provide funds to assist with professional development training
3.    provide funds for limited-use external consultants

The PSI Director and key staff will make the final decisions regarding the distribution of grant dollars and resolution of any disputed issues in consultation with PSI staff and the PSI board when necessary.  The Administrative Assistant & Program Coordinator will handle the day-to-day operations of the program, including disbursement of said grants.  This is subject to general oversight by the Director who in turn will be accountable to NAD administration and program investors. The monetary limit for a CAP grant is $2,000 with most falling in the $500-$100 range.

*    The grant request must fall in line with the intent of the CAP criteria. This includes but is not limited to: board training retreats, consultant fees, and related start-up expenses.  Professional development and related travel expenses will be considered only if the organizations can show it will share in these expenses at appropriate levels.

*    To apply for a CAP grant contact Kristin Priest at Kristin.Priest@nad.adventist.org or call (301) 680-6134.

*    Each institution would only be eligible for one grant per year and priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received funding through the CAP program.

*    Grant applications will be accepted, reviewed and awarded year round.

*    Grants are awarded only after organization or individual has submitted a “Statement of Impact” report. Special exceptions can be made if this policy would cause an undue financial hardship to the organization or individual.
